Quality Inspections

Independent Quality Checks at the Factory Before Your Goods Ship

We conduct independent, on-site quality inspections during production and before shipment — so defects are caught at the factory, not when the container arrives in South Africa.

The Challenge

Why Quality Problems Keep Reaching South African Shores

Without independent oversight at the factory, quality issues are discovered too late — after goods have shipped and your options are limited.

Defects Discovered After Arrival
Quality issues found after goods clear customs in South Africa are extremely difficult and costly to resolve — replacement orders can take months.
Samples Pass but Production Fails
Factories often produce excellent samples to win orders, then cut corners in mass production. Without in-production checks, buyers only discover this on delivery.
Wrong Materials or Substituted Components
Factories substitute cheaper materials mid-production without notifying the buyer — resulting in products that meet visual specs but fail on durability or compliance.
Incorrect Quantities and Packing
Shipments arrive short on units, incorrectly sorted, or with non-compliant packing — causing downstream issues with retailers and distribution.
Compliance and Safety Failures
Products failing South African safety or regulatory standards after import result in rejected goods, NRCS compliance issues, or liability exposure for the buyer.
No Factory Oversight During Production
Buyers based in South Africa have no practical way to monitor production quality in real time without a representative physically present at the factory.

Our Solution

Independent On-Site Inspections That Protect Every Order

We deploy independent inspectors at the factory at every critical stage — so quality issues are identified and resolved before goods leave the origin country, not after they land in South Africa.

  • 1
    Pre-Production Inspection
We inspect raw materials and components before production begins to confirm the factory has the right inputs to meet your specification.
  • 2
    During Production Inspection (DUPRO)
We inspect 20–30% through production to identify any deviations early — when there is still time to correct without impacting delivery.
  • 3
    Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI)
When production is complete, we conduct a full inspection against your specifications — dimensions, function, appearance, labelling, packing, and quantities.
  • 4
    AQL Statistical Sampling
We apply internationally recognised AQL sampling standards to ensure your inspection is statistically valid and defensible.
  • 5
    Detailed Inspection Report
You receive a photo-documented report within 24 hours of the inspection — with a clear pass/fail outcome and any issues itemised.
How It Works

The Inspection Process, Step by Step

From booking to report in hand — a structured, independent inspection at the factory on your behalf.

03

Inspector Deployment

Our inspector travels to the factory on the agreed date and conducts a thorough on-site inspection of goods against the checklist.

04

Live Defect Review

Any issues found during inspection are documented in real time with photos and communicated to the factory for immediate response.

05

Report Delivery

You receive a full photo-documented inspection report within 24 hours with a pass/fail determination and itemised findings.

06

Approval or Hold Decision

Based on the report, you decide to approve shipment, request rework, or hold goods — with our team supporting whatever action is needed.

FAQ

Quality Inspection Questions

Have more questions? Get in touch and we will respond within 24 hours.

A DUPRO (During Production) inspection happens when 20–30% of production is complete, allowing defects to be caught and corrected before the full run is finished. A Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) occurs when 100% of production is complete and packed, and is the last checkpoint before goods leave the factory. Both serve different purposes and can be used together for high-risk orders.
AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) is an international sampling standard that defines how many units are inspected from a production batch and what defect tolerance is acceptable. Common levels for consumer goods are AQL 2.5 (general) and AQL 1.0 (higher-risk products). We will advise the right level for your product and order size.
You will receive the full photo-documented report within 24 hours of the inspection being completed. The report includes a pass/fail outcome, itemised findings by defect category, and photos of any issues identified.
If an inspection fails, you have clear documented grounds to request rework or replacement from the factory before shipment is approved. We can assist with managing the factory response and re-inspection once remediation has been completed.
We recommend booking at least 5–7 business days before the required inspection date to confirm inspector availability and prepare the checklist. For urgent bookings, contact us directly and we will advise on the earliest available slot.
